Rafael Oliveira
Rafael Oliveira was born in Guimarães in 1996, the city where he currently lives and works. Graduated in Fine Arts in the field of painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, his work was part of numerous exhibitions and competitions in the most diverse institutions and art galleries.Also including, in this context, distinctions such as: XVI D.Fernando II Painting Prize, in 2020; Honorable Mention at the XI International Biennial of Vila Verde, in 2020; Honorable Mention in the 18th. Aveiro Young Creator Contest, in 2020; Tapeçarias Ferreira de Sá Grand Prix, in the 5th. Espinho International Art Biennial, in 2019; Finalist for the Abel Manta Award, in 2019; Honorable Mention in the 16th. Aveiro Young Creator Contest in 2017, and also has participation in collective projects such as ECRÃ (Space for Creativity and Artistic Representation), in 2022, Húmus, in 2021, Mon(s)tra and Quartet of brushes for a single canvas, in 2020Although he attended training based mostly on the academic tradition, his work reveals a fusion between academicism and the contemporary art scene.The incessant search for cohesive compositional structures, a harmonious chromatic conjugation, the gesture as a dictating force, is something to retain and consider when reading his work.
